If the studio is forced to close due to factors such as severe weather conditions or an infectious disease such as Covid-19, refunds will not be given.

Arriving at the studio

Please do not turn up for your class or workshop too early as you may have to wait while I finish preparing the studio for your class to start.

Prolific Makers

This is a teaching studio and not a production studio so prolific making is discouraged. An additional cost may be incurred for excessively wasted clay.

Students are not to bring creations made outside of the studio for completion and firing.

Work should stick to the dimensions specified and stated in the course description.

Clays other than those provided cannot be used in the studio.

Studio Clean-up

All working areas and tools must be cleaned after use.

Environment and Recycling

All materials are reused or recycled wherever possible. Clay, glaze and sedimentary materials are never to be poured down sinks in the studio.

Please ensure that all materials are disposed of correctly.

Ceramic Firings

Please allow 4-6 weeks for your work to be fired following your course.

You will be contacted via email to let you know when your work is ready.

Technical issues and breakages

Your ceramic work will be handled and fired with care. However, with ceramics there is always a risk of technical failure and occasional technical errors and breakages do occur for which no liability is accepted.

Collection of Work

It is recommended that you collect your finished work as soon as possible after your class or workshop to help keep storage areas clear, therefore avoiding possible damage. If finished ceramic work is not collected within 3 months of the end of the class or workshop it will be disposed of .

Items can be posted to you as long as the piece is not too heavy. The item will be weighed and postage costs will be calculated using Royal Mail 2nd Class Tracked Package. No responsibility for damage in transit will be accepted.

Health and Safety

Users of the studio do so at their own risk with awareness of the inherent hazards of a pottery studio environment which include, but are not limited to, use of sharp tools and sharp edges, exposure to toxic materials, the dangers of using materials and equipment at high temperatures, and the risks associated with breathing dust. Most ceramic materials (clay and glazes) are made from finely ground minerals and if not handled correctly can pose a general respiratory risk.

Students must comply with all health and safety instructions that are given.

Students are asked to keep all surfaces clean of clay and glaze and to clean all areas around their work. This minimises the risks to students caused by breathing in clay and dusts.

In the event of a fire, students should exit the building.

No smoking or vaping.

Conduct and Exclusion

Inappropriate behaviour is not acceptable and I reserve the right to exclude any offending parties from the studio at any time.

Data Protection

Any personal information you give will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. The information will be used only to process your booking.  Your contact details and any personal data you provide will not be shared but may be held securely on computer files.

Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with English law and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them shall be settled by the English courts.

Please ensure you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions before the end of your 7-day cooling off period. By passing this period you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted them.
