Hanging Robins Workshop

Hanging Robins Workshop

This workshop will give you the opportunity to make 3 hanging robins (or other small birds of your choice) for your home. (Should you be a speedy worker then you might find you have time to make a 4th bird)
The robins will be made from paperclay making them lightweight and perfect to hang from your Christmas tree or simply somewhere in your home all year round.

During the first part of the workshop I will demonstrate in stages, how to make a robin, starting with making a paper form to build around, so that we can work together through the various processes.

When your robins have been constructed you will be able to paint them using a wide range of underglaze colours. We will attach nichrome wire loops for hanging.

After completing your first robin you might decide to make different birds. Choose from blue tits, great tits, coal tits, wrens, blackbirds, chaffinch or something else (please bring some images).

After the workshop, your robins/birds will be bisque fired to 950°C, I will then glaze your pieces with a transparent glaze and fire again to 1100°C.

Finished robins/birds can be collected in approximately 3 to 6 weeks (depending on weather/drying conditions) or posted for a P&P cost of £10.

The workshop will run from 10am – 4pm with a half hour stop for lunch at 12:30.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring your own lunch.
