This workshop will give you the opportunity to make 3 ceramic flowers for your garden. (Should you be a speedy worker then you might find you have time to make a 4th flower)
The flowers will attach to metal rods that can then be positioned in your garden adding a beautiful, year round burst of colour.
During the first part of the workshop I will demonstrate in stages, how to make a poppy, so that we can work together through the various processes.
When your poppy has been constructed you will be able to paint it using a wide range of underglaze colours. Nichrome wire pieces can be added for stamens.
After completing your poppy you will be able to choose from a selection of other flowers to make including rose, magnolia, peony, arum lily and water lily. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring in some images of other flowers you would like to try.
After the workshop, your flowers will be bisque fired to 950°C, I will then glaze your pieces with a transparent glaze and fire again to 1200°C.
Finished flowers can be collected in approximately 3 to 6 weeks (depending on weather/drying conditions) or posted for a P&P cost of £10.
30cm long metal rods are provided for each flower as part of this workshop.
The workshop will run from 10am – 4pm with a half hour stop for lunch at 12:30.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring your own lunch.
