Mugs and Jugs - Summer Fun Workshop

This workshop is for up to 4 people. It will give you the opportunity to make a slab built mug or jug.

During the first part of the workshop I will demonstrate, how to roll out a slab of clay and compress using a rib tool. You will be able to choose a template from a selection of different shapes and sizes and we will cut out the shapes needed. Texture can be added at this point, choose from a range of texturing tools and rollers.

We will construct your mug or jug using the ‘scratch and slip’ technique and once assembled, you will be able to decorate it using coloured slips.

After the workshop, your mug or jug will be bisque fired, I will then glaze your pieces with a transparent glaze (or a pre selected glaze if you didn’t decorate your item with slips) and fire again to 1200°C.

Finished items can be collected in approximately 3 to 6 weeks (depending on weather/drying conditions). Alternatively, items can be posted for a P&P charge of £10.

This is a 3 hour workshop and will run from 10am – 1pm.
