This workshop is for up to 4 people. It will give you the opportunity to make a selection of jewellery pieces from porcelain using the ‘nerikomi’ method.
During the first part of the workshop I will demonstrate how to mix coloured stain with porcelain. I will have several pre-prepared colours but participants will be able to mix their own colours if they would like to.
I will then demonstrate various ways of creating patterns and designs using the colours of clay, which you will then be able to cut into shapes for jewellery. I have a wide range of cutters available but you can also cut the clay free hand.
I will provide each learner with a small bag of jewellery findings including brooch backs, earring wires and jump rings. Participants will also get a handout with information of how to attach the jewellery findings, what tools you might find helpful and a list of suppliers.
After the workshop, your jewellery pieces will be bisque fired to 1000°C, I will then fire again them again to 1200°C, bringing out the beautiful qualities of the porcelain.
Finished items can be collected in approximately 3 to 6 weeks (depending on weather/drying conditions). Alternatively, items can be posted for a P&P charge of £10.
This is a 3 hour workshop and will run from 10am – 1pm.
